Family Update

It’s almost been a month since my last post and I have a good reason. 🙂 Our little baby girl was born on November 17—almost a full month early. Her name is Elise Peri Binkowski and she is perfect. She weighed 6 pounds and 4 ounces then promptly, and expectedly, lost a few ounces down to 5-13. Today, Elise hash gained that weight back and then some. She’s 6 pounds 9 ounces. YAY!

The delivery went really well and thanks to the heavy doses of medication (epidural+), Melissa barely remembers the labor. Elise was a touch jaundice so she spent 20 hours under blue lights to help her process the bilirubin. I couldn’t stop taking tons of pictures…even when she was under the lights.

Ever since then, she has been gaining weight and keeping Melissa and I up alot at night. At the end of the day, we really do not care because she’s here and that’s all that matters. I have been working on a photo gallery for her and should have that up this weekend.

Once I had a chance to actually get near my computer and go online to see my site, I was a little shocked at its design. I didn’t remember it being so dark and actually got a little depressed. When I have the time, I would like to lighten it up a little.

Because Elise came almost a month early, my house projects all came to a screeching halt. One of them was the living room and dining room ceiling (they are connected). The plan was to scrape it all down to the plaster and repaint but that was recently handed off to a painter. We had to leave our house because babies aren’t supposed to be around lead paint dust. The job should be done tonight and we can move back in sometime tomorrow.

All in all, I really can say that I am the happiest I have ever felt. There is nothing like holding a six pound miracle and looking into its eyes. Elise really has me wrapped around her long skinny finger and I hope she doesn’t ever take me off of it.
